What You Should Know For The 2018-2019 Flu Season

Getting a flu vaccine every year is the best way to protect yourself and your family from flu and its potentially serious complications. CDC recommends that everyone 6 months and older get vaccinated by the end of October.

What is new this flu season?

• Flu vaccines have been updated to better match circulating flu viruses
• Any licensed, age-appropriate flu vaccines are recommended
• The nasal spray flu vaccine (LAIV) is again a vaccine option. Ask your health care provider about what vaccine is right for you

Tobacco Health System

FamilyCare Medical group received a stipend from the Central New York Regional Center for Tobacco Health Systems at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center for the implementation of a tobacco health system.

80% by 2018 Colon Rectal Cancer Screening Challenge

FamilyCare Medical Group partnered with the American Cancer Society by taking on the challenge of getting 80% of our patients screened for colon rectal cancer by March of 2018.  Many of our physicians took this as a personal challenge to get their patient screened for colon cancer.  Featured are a few of our physicians who excelled in the challenge.

FamilyCare Medical Group Achieves Level 3 PCMH

FamilyCare Medical Group (FCMG) has achieved Level 3 Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) recognition from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). 

“This certification is considered one of the leading standards of measuring a medical practice’s commitment to patient-centered care using evidence-based procedures and best practices.  To be recognized, FCMG went through a very challenging submission process and was evaluated on a set of criteria with an award of Level 3.  Level 3 being the most difficult to obtain and the most prestigious,” said Dr. Mitchell Brodey, President and CEO for FCMG.

HANYS Solutions Practice Advancement Strategies and FamilyCare Medical Group co-presented at NCQA PCMH Congress held November 3-5 in Orlando, Florida, with more than 1,000 attendees from across the country.
