Allergy
FamilyCare Medical Group offers an allergy program for all patients suffering
from year-round or seasonal allergies. Patients with chronic sinusitis or asthma
also benefit from allergy testing. The allergy program has helped many patients
live more comfortably with their allergies and improve their asthma as well. For
more information, ask your primary care physician about the program.
Dexascan
FamilyCare Medical Group offers dexa scanning, which is a test that measures
bone density to diagnose osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is an illness that makes
people prone to breaking bones. It is common in post-menopausal women and in
some other medical conditions. A bone density measurement is similar to an x-ray
and takes from 5-20 minutes. It is simple, safe, painless, and non-invasive.
This measurement helps your physician to determine if you need to take certain
steps to protect your bone health. Ask your primary care physician for more
information about this study.
Diabetes
FamilyCare Medical Group offers diabetes education to our patients. Our Nurse
Practitioners, who are certified diabetic educators, our Registered Dietician,
along with your Physician, give patients the tools and education to better
understand and cope with their illness. Ask your primary care physician for
information about the program.
Nerve Conduction Studies
Nerve conduction studies, which assist in the diagnosis of carpal tunnel and
other nervous system disorders are another service offered by FamilyCare Medical
Group. These are performed by a board certified electrophysiologist, and are
offered at several of our locations.
Echocardiograms
An echocardiogram is a test used in the diagnosis of heart problems such as
heart murmurs or heart palpitations. A sonogram or a picture of the heart is
taken and read by a cardiologist. This service is available at many of our
offices.
Holter Monitors
A Holter Monitor is a continuous 24-hrs EKG recording of the heart’s rhythm,
used to evaluate the type and amount of irregular heart beats during regular
activities, exercise, and sleep. This service is available in all of our
offices.
Sleep Lab
If you experience fatigue, irritability, depression, lack of concentration and
memory, or loss of productivity it could be caused by a sleep disorder. Millions
of Americans suffer from sleep disorders each year. Sleep disorders can affect
your job, health and quality of life. If left untreated, some disorders may
increase the risk of high blood pressure, heart attack, or stroke. Your
physician may recommend an overnight stay in our sleep lab located in Camillus.
During your stay, sleep stages, patterns, heart activity, blood oxygen levels
and body movements will be monitored to help diagnose a sleep disorder.
Clinical Laboratory
FamilyCare Medical Group has its own NYS certified laboratory. By having our own
lab, we can assure that your specimens are processed properly and have your
results in a more timely fashion.
CT Scan
CT scanning is a noninvasive, painless medical test that helps physicians
diagnose and treat medical conditions such as cancers, cardiovascular disease,
infectious disease, trauma and musculoskeletal disorders. CT scans of internal
organs, bone, soft tissue and blood vessels provide greater clarity than
conventional x-ray exams. CT scans are performed at Medical Center West in Camillus.
MRI
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a noninvasive, usually painless medical test
that helps physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions. Unlike a CT scan,
MR imaging provides a much greater contrast between soft tissues of the body
making it particularly useful in diagnosing neurological conditions, disorders
of the muscles and joints, abnormalities in the heart and blood vessels and for
evaluating tumors. This service is available at Medical Center West in Camillus.
