FCMG is exceedingly proud to announce that our good friend, esteemed colleague, and long-time provider -- Dr. Mitchell Brodey -- has been honored with the "Adeline Fagan, M.D. Physician Service to the Community Award."

Given by the Onondaga County Medical Association in honor of Dr. Adeline Fagan -- who succumbed to complications of COVID-19 in 2020 at the age of 28 -- this award is meant to recognize a physician who has made an exemplary contribution to the Central New York community. Here are comments the presenter made in recognizing Dr. Brodey:

"The recipient of this award has served Onondaga and surrounding counties with his expertise as an Internist and an Infectious Disease Specialist for over 42 years. Since 1980, he has been known as an excellent role model and mentor to countless physicians, medical students, residents, and infection preventionists. As a native of New York City and a graduate of Columbia College and Wayne State School of Medicine, he brought his family to Central New York to begin his career at Upstate Medical Center. Soon after, he moved his private practice in internal medicine and infectious disease to the Upstate Hospital Community Campus. In the late 1980’s as HIV was identified, and became prevalent, he utilized his expertise in infectious disease and became a vanguard in the care of the increasing population of AIDS patients.  He soon accumulated the largest population of HIV patients in Onondaga County. He was instrumental in the delivery of care from health care providers at the Community Campus. He is the Clinical Chief of Medicine at Upstate Community Hospital and has three grandchildren. Anyone working with or familiar with him knows that he is “on Call,” 24/7 – 360 days a year and has been for the last 42 years."

We could not have said it better, but we do take great pride and pleasure in joining the Onondaga County Medical Association in congratulating and lauding Dr. Brodey for all he does. We are most certainly honored to having him on our team and part of our family!
